Survey finds what cars are involved in fatalities the most

Drivers in Louisiana may want to pay extra close attention to the road when driving certain makes of vehicles. A survey done by ValuePenguin found that some makes of vehicles are involved in fatal accidents more than other types of cars. Data from the National Highway Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System was used in the survey.

Porsche tops the list of cars involved in fatalities

Those who drive a Porsche were found to be the most likely to be a contributing factor in fatal car accidents. An estimated 72% of fatal motor vehicle accidents involving a Porsche had the driver as a contributing factor in the accident. In fatal accidents involving a Porsche, speeding by the driver was most likely to be the contributing factor in the accident. Other makes that were often involved in accidents with fatalities include Oldsmobile, Mercury and Pontiac. Though Jaguars were further down the list, alcohol was more likely to be a contributing factor in those who drove a Jaguar.

Volvo drivers are among the safest on the road

In contrast, the survey also looked at the makes and models that were least likely to be involved in a fatal car crash. Those who drove a Volvo were least likely to be involved in a fatal accident. Volvo drivers were also least likely to be involved in accidents where alcohol was a contributing factor at just 6.9%.
